If we (teachers) miss a meeting from a designated school (80 hrs), teachers get docked pay or are given homework, is this a rule made by FUSD or school site?
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE CBA SO I HAVE TO ASSUME IT WAS NOT DISCUSSED AS PART OF THE DESIGNATED SCHOOLS ARTICLE (#65 IN THE CBA). IF YOU WORK THE DAY OF THE MEETING IN QUESTION THEN YOU MAY HAVE TO PUT IN FOR PERSONAL LEAVE TIME OFF, ASSUMING YOU KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT YOU’RE NOT GOING TO PARTICIPATE. IF YOU ARE ILL, THEN THIS SHOULD COME FROM YOUR SICK LEAVE BALANCE. REMEMBER, YOUR SICK LEAVE IS NOW CALCULATED IN HOURS, NOT DAYS. A DAY OF SICK LEAVE, LIKE YOUR WORK DAY, IS 8 HOURS SO YOU COULD CONCEIVABLY USE A COUPLE OF HOURS OF SICK LEAVE TO COVER THIS TIME.
Why is district administration asking the site to incorporate BAS scores (reading scores) percentages and class attendance percentage on teacher’s evaluations?
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS AGREED TO IN NEGOTIATIONS. WE COULD GRIEVE THE FACT THAT THIS INFORMATION WAS INCLUDED IF THE INDIVIDUAL TEACHER NOTIFIES US OF THE FACT.
Does a site principal asking for teachers to provide ‘choices’ concerning assignments for the following year ‘cover’ them as they assign teachers to whatever grade level in the site the principal chooses to place them?
ACTUALLY THIS IS NOT PART OF THE CBA. UNDER ED CODE SITE ADMINISTRATION CAN ASSIGN A TEACHER, WITHIN THE SITE, TO ANY GRADE LEVEL OR SUBJECT THAT THEY ARE APPROPRIATELY CREDENTIALED TO TEACH. REMEMBER, A TEACHER IS NOT HIRED TO TEACH AT A SPECIFIC SITE OR GRADE LEVEL, THEY ARE HIRED TO TEACH IN FUSD IN A GRADE/SUBJECT THAT THEY ARE APPROPRIATELY CREDENTALED FOR. THAT’S WHY THEY CAN MOVE YOU FROM SITE TO SITE IF NEEDED (i.e., OVERAGE) RATHER THAN RELEASING/FIRING YOU.
Is there something written down about lifetime benefits carrying over to a spouse should the covered member pass away?
THIS IS AN UPDATED ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION. IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT, SHOULD A VETERAN TEACHER WHO HAS WORKED LONG ENOUGH TO BE ENTITLED TO THE ‘LIFE TIME MEDICAL BENEFITS’ UNDER THE FUSD HEALTH PLAN, DIE PRIOR TO ACCTUALLY RETIRING THEIR BENEFICARIES WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO CONTINUE RECEIVING THE HEALTH BENEFITS. WHILE THIS IS NOT NEW, IT HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE UNTIL RECENTLY AND HAS THEREFORE COME TO THE FTA AS AN ISSUE WE ARE DISCUSSING WITH THE DISTRICT. STAY TUNED.
